Tricky conditions for KYC leg of Youth Series

Sunday brought sunshine, showers, a shifty and sometimes gusty westerly breeze that kept the 24 young sailors on their toes at Killyleagh Yacht Club for the second leg of the Strangford Lough Youth Series.

ILCA Handicap: It was neck-and-neck between Jonah Kelly and Sam McLernon, both finishing on 3 points – but Jonah edged the win by just 7 seconds on corrected time in Race 2! Clementine McMullan rounded out the podium in third place.

Topper Class: SLYC’s Tilly Scott was unbeatable, taking two wins. Solid results from KYC’s Sam Bridges and Aidan Cunningham earned them 2nd and 3rd – giving the home team a real boost in the overall standing.

Topper 4.2: EDYC’s Daniel Long took his second class win of the series, with Eliza Ashe close behind in second.

RS Feva: It was tight racing across the board! With leaders Anna Williams & Elsie Smyth absent, EDYC’s Charlie Stocking & Emily Kelly took the win – just ahead of Rose Kelly & Niamh Jones on equal points. Rhiaya McPolin & Abigail McCullough claimed third on countback.

With two events down, SLYC remain strong, KYC surged up the leaderboard, SSC stay steady in the ILCA class, and EDYC are making moves in the Fevas. It’s all to play for as the series heads to EDYC next Sunday!
