Killyleagh Yacht Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre offering sailing, powerboating and shorebased courses, delivered by a team of trained instructors and coaches to all age groups. We are also one of only six clubs in Northern Ireland to be awarded Pathway Club status, distinguishing our commitment to the development of high quality junior and youth race training.

Progress from a beginner to confident sailor on one
of our sailing courses and gain an accredited RYA Youth or National Scheme certificate.
RYA Level 2
Powerboat Handling
Become confident handling a powerboat. This 2 day course aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations.
No previous experience is required.
Shorebased and
theory courses
RYA First Aid is a one-day course that covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat.
The Marine Radio (SRC) course and exam is for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures.
