Join the safety
Safety first! Sailing events can’t happen without a dedicated team of safety boat crew’s on the water. Please help us to provide safety cover and support to sailors by volunteering for the rota. Powerboat Level 2 is required for drivers. Don’t have this? Don’t worry! You can still volunteer as crew.
Help with organising events onshore
Shore team tasks include ensuring the orderly and systematic launching and retrieval of boats. They usually operate a tally system noting who has and has not entered the water, and who is still to return. Other race office team roles ashore include managing entries, registration and results. If you’re super organised, this is for you!
Volunteer to help with events afloat
There are a number of roles afloat which are vital to running racing. Mark Layers are an important aid to the Race Officer. They are responsible not only for laying marks but also giving information on wind strength and direction across the course area. Alternatively you can volunteer on the race committee boat as timekeeper, visual and sound signaller, recorder or pin end boat crew.
Be part of a growing youth programme
The strength of our junior sailing scheme is dependent on a quality team of instructors, coaches, volunteers and parents who assist them. If you’re enthusiastic about helping our club’s future sailors gain on the water experience and improving their sailing skills in a safe and fun way, then get in touch with our Youth Sailing officer.
Get social with hospitality & catering
Our hospitality stands before us and that’s often because of the fantastic front facing members and staff who man our bar and catering facilities. If you’re up for pulling some pints or you’re a boss on the barbeque, we always need happy helpers. Get in touch to volunteer.
